Summary of Position: 

The Production Control team monitors and triages tickets associated with the Zelis IT Production environment. There are various responsibilities divided amongst team members, ranging from monitoring of system, querying data, researching and troubleshooting production environment bugs, or building tools to aid in monitoring of all aspects of the production system. The team as well works on development projects that are part of the core system, but are not included in the regular Sprint Software Development Life-Cycle.

Duties & Responsibilities Production Control Analyst:

  • Monitor systems and processes to discern normal vs. out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures ranging from routine process corrective actions to escalating issues to senior staff and/or management.
  • Communicate timely process status information to other teams and individuals.
  • Triage support calls and tasks, handling or directing each appropriately.
  • Create research and remediation tasks resulting from process failures.
  • Create and update SOP documentation.
  • Modify parameters/variables in standard scripts, test in staging environment, and propose deployment of needed/requested database updates.
  • Keep Manager informed of activities, alerting of any issues promptly
  • Communicate clearly and timely through task-system comments, conversations, and team scrum and task review meetings.
  • Take part in on-call rotation for out of hours production related issues
  • Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the art monitoring tools and techniques, and by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Ability to multitask, monitoring the system while completing other unrelated tasks
  • Follow established HIPAA, Compliance & Security policies.


Duties & Responsibilities Production Control Engineer:

  • Same duties and responsibilities as Production Control Analyst, plus,
  • Apply in depth knowledge of system processes to research and triage production support tickets
  • Perform impact analysis and asses criticality of problems in production environment
  • Interact with clients to support questions regarding DOCS, API, etc.
  • Serve as first point of escalation for production emergencies identified by team analyst
  • Build utilities to create reports for business stakeholders
  • Identify areas of system that require monitoring
  • Suggest improvements to production environment, both feature enhancements or performance improvements based on research performed
  • Create new standard scripts and other SOPs for analyst to follow
  • Make minor bug fixes identified through research
  • Update code feeding data to the EDW
  • Typical expected background to perform Production Control engineer role would be 1-2 years of service as the Production Control Analyst. Upon successful completion of Engineer skills, a Production Control Engineer has the ability to apply for the Production Control Developer position when it becomes available.


Duties & Responsibilities Production Control Developer:

  • Same duties and responsibilities as Production Control Engineer, plus,
  • Develop tools to aid in analyst's monitoring of system
  • Serve as second point of escalation regarding emergencies identified by team analyst or engineer
  • Provide guidance to team members to aid in research or work to be performed
  • Make bug fixes that require development work
  • Work on development tasks that do not need to follow full sprint SDLC
  • Make architecture changes to the Enterprise Data Warehouse as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent IT technical support work experience required
  • Experience in IT support, troubleshooting and triaging issues, either through school work, internships or work opportunities
  • Experience using C#, SQL Server and Microsoft Visual Studio preferred.
  • For developer role, 1-2 years in software development, through school work, internships or work opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

Physical Factors:
